Use the search box on the right to search the museum database. You are likely to get better search results if you bear in mind these points:

Less is more

Avoid long phrases, eg:

• search for "Blacksmith's"
• not "The Blacksmith's Arms"
• not "The History of the Blacksmiths Arms"
• search for "primary school"
• or "education"
• not "St Bartholomew's Primary School"

Use single surnames

• search for "Rumsey"
• not "Canon H H Rumsey"

Case doesn't matter

These will all work:

• primary school
• Primary School
• PRIMARY SCHOOL

Avoid full stops after abbreviations

• "St Barts" and not "St. Barts"
• "Mrs Kinch" and not "Mrs. Kinch"
