In April 1979 Bovis Construction Ltd. started work on the Owen Owen superstore it is now owned by Allders Ltd.

The town's busy market place in Royal Square on which has been built Debenham's store. The market, now on the fringe of the Centre is only a shadow of its former self.

During the Queen Mother's visit to Studley in 1981 she was shown copies of the Redditch Indicator dating back to 1929 - the year she last visited the town as Duchess of York.

Most schoolchildren had been given the day off to see the Queen. They were out in their hundreds on Tuesday to greet Her Majesty. This was certainly a day there were never to forget.
