Building Society money boxes were supplied to children to encourage saving. The base is opened with a key (not supplied) which was held by the Society, the money would then be placed in the account.

The box is plated metal and probably dates from the 1930s. It comes in its own cardboard box with the account number printed on the outside. The account number is also stamped on the base of the metal money box
