Redditch Heritage Albert Wharrad
Coming Home - Eventually
This is a letter written by Albert to his mother back home when he knew he was on his
way home from Egypt after the war had ended.
Other papers show that Albert & others were unhappy with the speed of the demob
process and stages a protest against it. As an NCO he was classed as one of the leaders
which at one stage was called a “Mutiny”
This caused them concern because for mutiny on active service they could have been
shot!
Luckily they got off with a severe reprimand.
