RUSH FOR FREE EASTER EGGS

Good Friday saw over fifty excited children visiting the new Redditch Local History Museum with their Moms and Dads to bag a FREE chocolate egg. Ten special doors with simple questions on the town’s heritage had been hung around the gallery, with the answers inside. Armed with pencil, answer sheet and clipboard, the sheets were quickly filled in as the doors were found and opened. The race was then on to be first in the queue for the biggest egg. One after another the pile of chocolate grew smaller until by mid afternoon it was no more.

As part of our new Out Reach Project the day had been a great success. We were amazed at the interest shown from even the smallest child. Perhaps we have discovered a future band of local historians who can carry on from where we leave off. A really inspiring and educational day was had by all. Many of the adults were so amazed and impressed by our displays that they are planning to return with friends, which is what we hoped for.

Our new round of Fund raising has just begun with a Raffle for a ‘top of the range’ Folding Bicycle complete with a comprehensive range of accessories. Tickets are selling well and are available from the museum and volunteers. So please help us if you can so that our artefacts and displays stay in the Town Centre and not on ebay!

Go to Financial Donation – Redditch Local History Museum to donate directly. Remember to tick Gift Aid as a tax payer so we get an extra 25% (£4,000 returned by HMRC over one year)

None of this would have been possible without the help of volunteers Malcolm, Dianne, Teresa, Martyn, Aimmy and Natasha who all gave up their bank holiday. Why come in and have a chat about joining them as a volunteer. They love it … you could too. Mornings or Afternoons to suit. Look at Natasha. Always smiling, enjoying her volunteering and meeting lots of lovely friendly visitors.
