Redditch history stretches back to the 12th century when Cistercian monks came to the area to uild a monastery. It later became the centre to needle making in the world before embracing the industrial revolution to become a manufacturing town. In 1964 it was designated a “New Town” to support post war rebuilding of the west midlands but this galley focuses on the pre-new town history.
