Back To The Future

This 1946 map of the proposed development of the Batchely Estate has just been donated to the museum, thank you Hilary Bullman.

It was produced by architect Frederick Hill for Redditch Urban District Council and measures 24″ by 18″.One interesting feature is a traditional church in the centre. I assume this is where St. David’s church stood, did a church pre-date St. David’s Hall or was it planned to replace the prefabricated St. David’s with a new church?

It will be in the museum from this Friday onwards if you would like to come and study this fantastic find.
